Blog: Featured finalist - Network Rail Crossrail

09 May 2018

Client of the Year

Network Rail Crossrail was established to deliver Europe’s largest infrastructure programme of railway remodelling to integrate the Crossrail Central tunnels with the existing railway. The £2.5 billion programme extending over 7 years includes 10 new stations, the upgrade of 30, heavy civil works, electrification of 25 miles of dedicated railway and the provision of new signalling systems.

Network Rail Crossrail operates a portfolio of contracts with Costain, Carillion, Balfour Beatty, Vinci and Alstom, in addition to multiple tier 2 suppliers. The programme management team to NR Crossrail is an integrated partnership with NR, Bechtel, Turner and Townsend. Irrespective of contractual relationship or title, the complexities of the programme demands the teams to operate as an integrated alliance.

The leadership style has ensured that the team acts as a fully integrated delivery organisation and works closely both on the project and beyond, including charity bike rides and supporting local school Sion Manning School. Delivery of high profile and critical works by allocating advisers based on skills, experience and innovative approaches, regardless of ‘badge’ has not only enabled challenging deliverables to be achieved on the programme but also created a work environment built on collaboration and long-lasting relationships extending into the interfacing Crossrail Central and Crossrail Depot projects.

Network Rail are also finalists in the Sustainability and Civils Project of the Year categories at this years awards for the London Bridge Station Redevelopment project. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony and gala dinner on the 28th of June 2018. For more information or to book your table, click here.
