Recycling

Recycling involves the use of by-products and waste materials that arise either after a product's been made or after it has been used.

Recycling can be very cost effective, as well as being environmentally friendly. As part of the Smartwaste suite of tools (see link below), BRE offers an audit tool which can help you identify how much waste is currently costing your business. By identifying the processes which cause the problem, the audit will help you make savings quickly where opportunities exist.

Another useful tool is offered by Waste Aware Construction Site. It provides information on a waste stream colour coding initiative, developed by the Institution of Civil Engineers, that could help you sort materials more effectively.
