Finance South East (FSE) is a regional funding organisation, backed by SEEDA and privately governed.  With access to a breadth of public and private resources, FSE specialises in the identification, funding and development of ambitious businesses with high growth potential.  By providing a unique funding service to these companies across the South East, FSE helps them grow through direct investment and associated support.

Current funds and services under management include:

• Accelerator Fund: a £10m mezzanine loan fund providing SMEs with an innovative source of finance of up to £200,000, for a range of expansion activities
• South East Seed Fund: a £5m equity fund investing up to £250,000 on a matched-funding basis to SMEs, including university spin-ins/spin-outs
• Commercialisation Fund: a £3m fund providing repayable finance of up to £60,000 for proof-of-concept and commercialisation activities
• Grant for Research & Development*:  helps start-ups and SMEs carry out research and development work on technologically innovative products and processes
• Grant for Business Investment*: a discretionary grant scheme typically providing 10-15% of a project's eligible capital expenditure
• Collaboration Fund: A £2m national grant fund financed by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to facilitate the transition of research previously financed by the EPSRC into a viable commercial application
• Transition Fund:  providing loans of up to £150,000 to established SMEs experiencing cash flow difficulties as a result of the adverse financial credit squeeze
• South East Capital Alliance (SECA): a business angel network facilitating the introduction of high quality, investment ready companies to potential investors from across the region
• Expertise in the design and delivery of investment readiness, business angel training and development and business mentoring programmes to support growth companies

FSE has directly invested over £20m in South East companies and has helped them raise a further £100m over the last 5 years, stimulating job creation, adding value to the South East economy and helping the South East to maintain its position as Europe’s most successful entrepreneurial region.
