Aim: To increase access to and uptake of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Built Environment professionals, and to create a culture of cross-disciplinary learning. Search for CPD events www.cpdevents.org.uk
Objectives:
Develop a comprehensive database of information about CPD events and other lifelong learning opportunities Grow a regular user base of professionals from all disciplines working in and supporting the sector Encourage and enable collaborative planning and delivery of multi-disciplinary learning Understand the balance of supply and demand and help providers to respond to regional markets Increase the uptake of CPD eventsPartners: The project is managed by SECBE and supported by ConstructionSkills. Developed and piloted by Construction Industry Council - South East, the project has received funding from South East England Development Agency, DTI and South East Excellence
Actions:
Built fully searchable, postcode driven database to be accessed free through a website Engaged all key professional institutions and other key CPD providers to populate the database Actioned marketing campaigns to drive up the user base Introduced registration to website to create CPD network Carried out user survey to precipitate enhancements to the service Developed a personalised e-newsletter to pro-actively encourage uptake of CPD events Encouraged regional forums to: engage with CPD providers professional users locally, facilitate collaborative planning and delivery of events, influence content of CPD programmes to reflect regional sector issuesOutcomes: The project developed from a pilot of 5 institutions in the South East to a National system with more than 3,000 events on the database, a regular monthly user base of over 1,100 and 460 registered users. Regional Forums have been established in the South East, East of England, North West, South West, Northern Ireland, and East Midlands
