Sustainable Construction
Sustainable Construction addresses the triple bottom line - the social, economic and environmental performance of the industry:
- Economic: enhanced profitability via more efficient use of 'resources'
- Environmental: protecting the environment from the impact of emissions, effluent and waste
- Social: recognising the needs of everyone impacted by construction, from inception of a project to demolition.
SECBE urges you to use the following tools:
Grow Information Service: The Grow Information service is a dynamic web portal th
at is continually populated and updated to provide construction and built environment companies with access to guidance and resources to meet the demands of delivering sustainable construction.
Sustainable Construction: Practical guidance for planners and developers - which aims to assist in the task of delivering more sustainable buildings. This is the outcome of a research project core funded by the DTI.
Sustainability Check List - The Checklist is a new, easy-to-use online tool that has been developed by SEEDA and BRE. Devised specifically to guide the design of new developments by making sense of current policy, the Checklist highlights best practice, complementing Ecohomes and the new Code for Sustainable Homes.
The Checklist covers regionally specific sustainability and planning issues, emphasising those of higher priority. It can also be adapted to reflect locally significant concerns.
