Procurement Initiatives
Members now have access to a comprehensive directory of information and resources to improve their procurement process.
SECBE has undertaken an "audit" of relevant procurement initiatives, both from within the built environment and construction sector, and from outside of it. A desk research study has examined many sources of procurement advice, to identify their relevance to the sector and to gain an understanding of how all of these programmes relate to each other.
Each organisation and procurement initiative has been plotted on a framework which shows that there is far more activity in the public sector than in the private sector; and more initiatives at the national level than at the local level.
The framework splits into four sections: view framework
- Public sector national initiatives
- Public sector local initiatives
- Private sector national initiatives, and
- Private sector local initiatives
Each of the headings above provides a summary of the organisations and initiatives involved in each section. It should be noted that some sit across two sections - for example the work of the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) is applicable to the public sector at both the national and local level.
The full list of organisations, with brief details of the organisation, contact details and information about relevant guidance and support can be downloaded here.
SECBE is currently assessing the value to our members of taking this data and presenting it in searchable format. There are two options:-
- To link information directly to organisations as is the framework above, or
- To organise by "business improvement themes": supply chains vs project teams, process vs culture and integration vs change. View graphical representation of this alternate framework.
