Business Led Priorities
Business Led Priorities
Unlike many organisations, SECBE is owned by its business members and exists to respond to their needs by facilitating collaboration, sharing information and driving business improvement. Programmes of work are identified by its members and agreed by an elected Management Board in consultation with an advisory group of key stakeholders
SECBE has prioritized five key business issues for action:
People - developing management/leadership training networks, local apprentice co-operatives and advanced technologies skills
Planet - driving resource efficiency, particularly water and energy, and material waste
Planning - helping businesses understand the planning system and driving the formation of local forums for planners and developers to share best practice
Procurement - helping key construction clients and companies to communicate business opportunities; and to help suppliers develop their bidding and delivery capability
Productivity - raising awareness and adoption of innovative business practices, including greater use of ICT, benchmarking, lean construction and modern methods of construction. SECBE works closely with the Constructing Excellence Clubs
The task of creating the Olympic infrastructure cuts across all of SECBE's priority areas and the team will be working hard to ensure the region derives maximum benefit from the opportunity.
Audit before action
SECBE's overarching priority is to map existing activity before developing any new services. In a sector with so many support organisations and initiatives, offering businesses effective signposting to resources is vital
