Sustainable Procurement Action Plan
The UK government recognises that the way in which the public sector spends its money can have a major impact in helping to deliver sustainable development. The Sustainable Procurement Action Plan published plans on 5th March to raise the standards and status of sustainable procurement practice across the public sector particularly within the built environment.
What does this mean for Public Sector Procurers?
Local Authorities need to lead by example, ensuring that they adopt established minimum product standards, known to deliver key environmental benchmarks and value for money. They must ensure that sustainability becomes embedded into all public service operations.
What does this mean for Construction and Built Environment Suppliers?
Clients are increasingly demanding products and services with lower negative environmental and social impacts. Sustainable innovation will provide a competitive edge, enhance corporate reputation and deliver social and environmental benefits.
