Sustainability
Type of client: Business and public sector
Type of work: Baggage, asset replacement and passenger experiences
Mace is one of the four delivery partners for Heathrow Airport Ltd delivering Q6 projects, a five-year framework agreement which involves upgrading baggage system, passenger experience improvement and asset replacement work. They have embedded sustainability into the Heathrow projects while providing the client with the best service to support their business needs and are one of the few construction companies who have signed up to RE100 (100% renewable power) and the continuous improvement to reduce Carbon emissions and NOx reduction is now being mandated at Heathrow.
Mace is also engaging with Heathrow Circular Economy Lead to move towards Zero Waste. In addition, Mace encourages take-back scheme and works with the social enterprise organisations such as Community Wood Recycling which allows construction timber waste to be reused and recycled rather than send to waste from energy. Engaging with the social enterprise industries, create sustainable jobs, through training and volunteering opportunities for local people – especially those who might find it difficult to get into or back to employment.
The winner of the Sustainability category will be announced at the awards ceremony and gala dinner on the 28th June at the Royal Lancaster London. For more information about the event, or to book tickets click here.
