Blog: SECBE Non-Executive Board member - Mandy Messenger

28 July 2026

After 37 years in the construction sector, Mandy Messenger has joined the SECBE Board as a Non-Executive Director, bringing with her a wealth of commercial expertise, strategic insight and a passion for helping the industry thrive.

Having spent 27 years growing and ultimately leading Advanté Ltd, Mandy understands first-hand the opportunities and challenges facing businesses across the built environment. Today, as Founder of her commercial practice, mm² insights, she helps founders and senior leaders build businesses that create long-term value.

Throughout her career, Mandy has been driven by a belief that lasting success comes from investing in people, embedding strong governance, and building trusted relationships. Long before ESG became a mainstream business priority, she was championing responsible business practices, recognising that trust, transparency and collaboration are fundamental to sustainable growth.

Alongside her commercial leadership, Mandy has played an active role in industry collaboration through her position as Advisory Board Director of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, helping to shape collective approaches to sustainability across the construction sector.

Her experience leading an SME gives her a clear understanding of what works in practice, ensuring that strategic decisions remain connected to the needs of the organisation.

Having worked alongside SECBE over many years, Mandy has seen first-hand the impact the organisation has across the built environment.

“Having seen first-hand the amazing work SECBE does, I’m proud to be joining and to be part of its future. Its values – inspiration, collaboration and innovation – are ones I’ve embedded throughout my own career”

She sees exciting opportunities to build on SECBE's  success to date by expanding the reach and impact of its programmes.

A particular passion is the Inspiring Future Leaders Programme (IFLP). Having been part of the very first cohort, Mandy has experienced personally the difference the programme can make to individuals, organisations and the wider industry. She is keen to help extend its reach, engaging even more organisations and future leaders.

Alongside IFLP, Mandy is looking forward to supporting the continued success of initiatives including CLOCS and the CoTrain apprenticeship scheme, helping ensure they continue to deliver value across the sector.

With extensive experience in commercial growth, governance, sustainability, people, culture and long-term strategic positioning, she brings a valuable perspective to the SECBE Board at an exciting time for the organisation.

As SECBE continues to inspire collaboration and innovation across the built environment, Mandy is looking forward to helping shape the next stage of its journey, by supporting and growing their programmes that create lasting value for people, businesses and the industry as a whole.
